MOVIE: Submission

Lucia sues his husband for raping her. While fighting the portoguese legal system in order to get her husband in court, in spite of his powerful family, she processes her trauma in a self-help group and finds out that that terrible experience got her pregnant. The protagonist raises her voice for women’s right in a patriarcal society, bringing to the light questions such as the possibility of rape in marriage. The directors certainly draws a feminist portrait, but his strenght lies in never pointing to what or who is right, but letting the spectator untangle the complexity of the fact.
